F9 Financial Management, P4 Advanced Financial Management
William trained as an accountant with KPMG and after qualifying he moved into the Corporate Finance department. He then moved to Coopers & Lybrand from where he moved into accountancy tuition. William’s first 6 years of teaching were largely spent in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union where he gained extensive international teaching experience.
For the next 10 years William was an employee of Kaplan Financial which meant that he was largely UK based. However William taught a very large number of overseas students who had travelled to London for their ACCA studies and continued to teach overseas whenever an opportunity arose. Indeed William has now taught in 24 different countries! William is now self-employed and provides exam based and other professional tuition in both the UK and overseas.
William is married with two teenage boys. He enjoys cycling and mountain walking.
William enjoys his teaching and is keen to involve and motivate his students such that they become confident and able in the topics that they have studied.
P3 Business Analysis
Sean Purcell trained as an accountant with Courtaulds Textiles Plc (one of the world’s largest textile companies) operating in various sectors including retail and internal audit leaving as the Group Financial Controller of one of its largest divisions. He has also worked as a management consultant in Sydney Australia.
Sean started teaching with Emile Woolf in 1993 and was involved with its takeover of Accountancy Tutors and was a founder member of the organisation which is now Kaplan in the UK. He has been Kaplan’s global subject specialist for ACCA P3 and CIMA E3 and is involved in delivering courses in London and overseas having delivered over 50 courses in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Croatia. In addition he has also been involved in management development and CPD of business teams in the area of motivation and business innovation.
He is a regular contributor to accounting magazines having written over 30 articles with many of them accessible on the ACCA website.
So as to understand students and their behaviour in the exam room he has also been a marker for every ACCA P3 exam paper and regularly meets with the examiner and other members of the marking team.
Chris trained with a leading firm of Chartered Accountants in London. Following qualification he joined the UK private sector of accountancy education, initially specializing in Financial Reporting, progressing on to specialize in Audit and Assurance Services. For many years, Chris was the ACCA’s subject specialist, lecturing on their own Revision Schools in the UK and Internationally, on the 2 Auditing papers. He co-authored the ACCAs specialist texts published for their examinations in 1990’s, with the respective examiners. Chris has represented the ACCA on many overseas ventures teaching student groups, and conducting courses to Train the Trainer, as well as conducting many courses on Examination Techniques.
Chris has taught for the leading trainers in the UK, and has considerable experience of lecturing overseas, having lectured to both Chartered and Certified students preparing for examinations in Africa, Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Far East, Asia and the West Indies and is a renowned expert in his subject areas.
Chris is friendly, approachable and extremely exam focused, and is really passionate about the subjects he teaches. His objective is to ensure every student is enthused to study and pass their exams at their first attempt, in what statistically are some of the more challenging papers.
F7 Financial Reporting, P2 Corporate Reporting
A fellow of the ACCA Robert Moulin brings over twenty five years of professional accountancy experience to his teaching.
After qualifying in public practice he moved into industry and over the years has worked in senior positions for companies large and small, SMEs as well as global FMCG companies including drinks group Bacardi and toy maker Mattel Inc.
For the past decade he’s been advising and training accountants in corporate reporting matters, especially with respect to International Financial Reporting Standards. Based in the UK, he teaches in Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle and Far East.
Robert’s approach to teaching is driven by a passion for accountants to demonstrate their role as communicators of financial performance through a deep understanding of IFRS He also brings to the classroom his experience of marking for the ACCA Corporate Reporting exam.
Robert is a classically trained musician as well as a broadcast journalist, working for the UK’s leading national TV and radio broadcaster. On three occasions he’s taken the challenge to cycle the length of Great Britain, from Land’s End to John o'Groats.
F5 Performance Management, P5 Advanced Performance Management
Gamel started his career as an auditor in the UK before becoming a lecturer for FTC (now Kaplan) in 1999 and soon became Kaplan's National ACCA Product Manager. Over the last 14 years Gamel has become an expert in helping students study and pass examinations in Financial Management, Performance Management and Financial Strategy, and has also marked real examinations for several professional bodies (including ACCA).
As well as his technical expertise, Gamel also specialises in examination techniques and memory skills, and incorporates these into his lectures to make studying easier and improve students' chance of passing examinations first time.
Gamel has a unique style of lecturing, and successfully manages to explain complicated topics in a manner that is easy to understand and enjoyable.
